This blog is a resource for professionals and academics and all those with a serious interest in the film industry as a business. There is a primary focus on the concerns of the independent UK film industry and particularly the role of digital technologies.
About the author: Michael Franklin. I am a Research Associate with the Institute for Capitalising on Creativity at the University of St Andrews and at Creative Scotland: the national leader for Scotland’s arts, screen and creative industries.
Within these institutions I work on the digital marketing and distribution of feature films and associated business models. My research is supported by the ESRC and TSB.
Prior to joining the ICC I worked in consultancy for Northern Alliance, mainly on film finance and digital business related projects. Clients included UKFC, EM Media, Wales IP Fund and NESTA/Skillset. I am a graduate of the universities of St Andrews & Edinburgh and Cass Business School.
