A film business research blog with a focus on digital.

This blog is a resource for professionals and academics and all those with a serious interest in the film industry as a business. There is a primary focus on the concerns of the independent UK film industry and particularly the role of digital technologies.

About the author: Michael Franklin. I am a Research Associate with the Institute for Capitalising on Creativity at the University of St Andrews and at Creative Scotland: the national leader for Scotland’s arts, screen and creative industries.

Within these institutions I work on the digital marketing and distribution of feature films and associated business models. My research is supported by the ESRC and TSB.

Prior to joining the ICC I worked in consultancy for Northern Alliance, mainly on film finance and digital business related projects. Clients included UKFC, EM Media, Wales IP Fund and NESTA/Skillset.  I am a graduate of the universities of St Andrews & Edinburgh and Cass Business School.

The arguments and analysis presented in this blog do not represent the official position of Creative Scotland but of this researcher only.
